I Can’t Believe You Live Like That is the debut solo release from Pretty Mighty Mighty frontman and multi-instrumentalist Jon Chinn. Based in Columbus, Ohio, Jon fronted indie pop band Pretty Mighty Mighty, and co-owned and operated Workbook Studio, working with acts such as RJD2, Saving Jane and the New Bomb Turks, placing Jon in the unique position to document his talents as a solo songwriter. Jon held a weekly residency at Columbus hot spot Andyman’s Treehouse, debuting new material and work-in-progress compositions. WWCD101 released a compilation containing tracks recorded live in-studio, including Jon alongside notables such as Matthew Sweet, Jimmy Eat World, Flaming Lips, Pete Yorn and Tenacious D. The bulk of I Can’t Believe You Live Like That was laid to tape late at night, early in the morning, or whenever a free moment of time at Workbook would allow. Guest musicians from a number of Columbus-area bands (Miranda Sound, Tiara, Templeton) are strewn throughout, adding to the melodic textures found on tracks like “Lying Through Your Teeth” and “Kings Horses.
